Perhaps my wording was off! The communists, like the poor, will always be with us. And in that sense, the radical faction of the Democrats is a real threat. I wouldn't even call them progressive. They're atheistic, abortion-mongering, antisemitic authoritarians. I think Joe McCarthy said it best when he said they were commies.
They have seized control over the Democrat party and a lot of the old-school Democrats don't even realize it.
The party of the old-school Democrats is dead. The Democrats I grew up with--abortion should be safe, legal, and rare; marriage is between one man and one woman; we need to be tough on crime; immigration has to be regulated; pro-union; pro-welfare... I don't know when they died exactly but they're gone. As the Grateful Dead sang in a different context, "like a steam locomotive, rolling down the tracks, she's gone, she's gone, and nothing's gonna bring her back."
The party is trying to re-invent itself like a wolf in sheep's clothing by calling themselves "Democrats" but they're not that anymore. The radicals have hijacked the party and the Democrat party of yesteryear (not that long ago) is in shambles and can't really be put back together. That's what I mean to say.
Yes. I can't argue with that. I would also add the same was true of the Republican Party before Trump. Communists (in the guise of Fabian Socialists) had seized it. That's why so many of them (like Bush, Cheney, Romney, etc) supported democRATS rather than Trump. But maybe ... maybe ... with Trump, we still have a slight chance (depending on how the fight against cheating goes) to keep this country from going full-blown communist. If we fail, then at least most of the people who supported these democRATS and RINOs will eventually get what they deserve.
