Hi. I’m glad to see you commenting on the evil minimum wage. It's a great topic and highlights much of what's wrong with the Democratic Party and RINOs these days. It's worth noting that back in the 1930s, after Republican Supreme Court turncoat Owen Roberts voted with the democRATic minority to uphold Washington state’s minimum wage law and support FDR's New Deal, FDR’s Congress in 1938 passed the Fair Labor Standards Act, which established the first federal minimum wage. Since then, it's been raised more than 22 times, never ONCE doing what it was established to accomplish. All except two of those times, democRATS were in control of Congress. Those two were when Clinton was President .. at which point UNIPARTY RINOs had already infested Congress.
Now while I agree with everything you noted about the minimum wage, I think you left out the biggest problem with it. It reduces employment especially in those groups it's supposed to help the most ... the unskilled who need a starter job. There’s plenty of literature proving this. Here’s an excerpt from survey of economists in 2007 (http://www.epionline.org/studies/epi_minimumwage_07-2007.pdf ) …
--------------
"July 2007 EPI Minimum Wage Survey of Labor Economists
The 2007 Minimum Wage Survey was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center for the Employment Policies Institute from January to April, 2007. A similar survey on Living Wages was conducted in 2000. Two hundred eighty (280) labor economists in the United States completed mail questionnaires for the survey. A list of economists was obtained from the American Economic Association (AEA) and consisted of all AEA members who indicated that their primary or secondary area of expertise is labor economics.
The major findings of this survey include:
• Almost three-fourths of labor economists (73%) believe that a mandated minimum wage increase set at 150% of the current wage would result in employment losses. … snip …
• Nearly half of labor economists (49%) believe a mandated minimum wage set at 150% of the current wage would lead to no change in poverty rates, 32% believe it will reduce poverty rates and 19% believe it will increase poverty rates.
• Labor economists were asked to rate the efficiency of three proposed policies which address the income needs of poor families: a higher minimum wage, the Earned Income Tax Credit, and general welfare supports. Of these three options, the Earned Income Tax Credit is rated most efficient followed by general welfare supports. A higher minimum wage is judged least efficient. … snip …
… snip ...
• Only 6% of labor economists believe a higher minimum wage is a very efficient way to address the income needs of poor families, 39% think it is somewhat efficient, and 55% think it is not at all efficient.
… snip …
• Labor economists were asked to estimate the effect a higher minimum wage (150% of the current level) and an expanded EITC would have on employment. Of these two options, economists believe an expanded EITC would lead to employment gains, and that a higher minimum wage would result in employment losses.
… snip …
• In contrast, only 6% of labor economists believe an increased minimum wage would lead to employment gains, 29% believe it would lead to no change in employment, and 65% believe there would be employment losses.
… snip …
• The majority of labor economists (61%) believe minimum wage effects will be larger if set at the local level rather than the national level, 18% believe there is no difference, and 21% believe the effect will be smaller.
• More than eight in ten labor economists strongly oppose using a family of three as the standard for setting hourly minimum wage levels. Economists are also strongly opposed to using a family of four as the standard for setting minimum wage levels.”
------------------
As you can tell, economists back in 2007 were not very favorable toward the minimum wage ... because it had already failed the test of time ... repeatedly failed to do what it was promised to do.
Yes. There's so much wrong with a federal minimum wage (or any minimum wage) that I guess a complete rebuttal would amount to a book! I agree with everything you say.
I think the mimimum wage argument is a typical lefty focus on the wrong end of the equation. MAGA wants people to be able to get and hold a good job. A good job is one that pays well and affords opportunity for advancement. That's the MAGA goal. The commies say that's not important at all, the most important thing is that if they can ever manage to get a job that it pays a prescribed amount. Lefties focus on the pay, MAGA focuses on getting people into an upwardly mobile economy.
It's the same thing that's wrong with Affirmative Action for universities. Lefties put all the emphasis on getting minorities or other allegedly aggrieved group into university. Case closed. MAGA wants to see everybody (minority or not) who gets into a university to be able to complete it and leave with not just good grades but a solid education. Again, lefties are looking at the wrong part of the equation. We could get every single 18 year old person into college if we wanted--we could just pass a law demanding universities admit them--but that doesn't mean university is going to help them.
Same thing with "tax the rich." Lefties just want crippling taxes on people they consider rich. MAGA says, why are we taxing at all? And if we do tax, what is the money used for? Is it being used wisely? Lefties are so greedy for tax money, even if every person on earth were taxed at 100%, they'd still be screaming they need more taxes.
Kamala has recently trotted out the federal minimum wage, so I couldn't resist this topic, although for me, it's a pretty foregone conclusion that a federal minimum wage is a stupid idea.

As all of these sources prove, the minimum wage is a VERY BAD IDEA. A bad idea introduced by that democRAT *saint* FDR, who also introduced (under false pretenses) the boondoggle called Social Security (and scam wrapped in bacon which has robbed America and the elderly of much wealth and security), who massively interfered in the economy in the way Soviets had, and who tried to stack the courts (just like today’s democRATS want to do again) so there would be one-party rule (by the democRATic Party).
