To be fair, I don't know when the survey was taken with respect to some of the horror stories. It could be that the misguided Canadians at first welcomed the idea. It is one of those programs that liberals would say was compassionate and kind--don't let dying people suffer needlessly. We now see the inevitable slippery slope as a healthcare crisis (government can't pay for free healthcare for everybody) meets a legal loophole.
What Canada needs is for Trudeau to be booted out of office. The Canadians have a Parliamentary system with several parties, and right now Trudeau is Prime Minister because he has lefties (the New Democratic Party and the Liberals) backing him. Canadian politics is needlessly complicated but if Trudeau can hold the support of the libs, the next election will likely be October of 2025, a year from now. Good news is that Conservatives are gaining fast and currently are majority in Parliament plus they are way ahead in polling. As long as Trudeau can keep the liberals happy (he's now trying to pass a law on free dental care), he can stay in power another year. If Trudeau wanted, as Prime Minister, he could call another election (they call these "snap elections") but he won't do it because he'll lose.
So I think Canada has the Trudeau lunacy for another year. His main opponent for Prime Minister is a Conservative called Pierre Poilievre. Pierre's approval rating is running at 67%, Trudeau at 33%, so the only think Trudeau can do for now is stall till next October and do whatever the liberals tell him to do. I saw a funny headline from May 2024 that said, "If you think Biden has troubles, just look at Trudeau."
Oh, my! That many people on board with this is hard to fathom!

Interesting! Thanks!
