Sometimes lies get exposed. That was in the olden days when men were men and women were women, nobody wore a nose ring, and social media seemed as remote as flying cars.
Nowadays, there is a new category of political falsehood going around that just can’t die. I call them Zombie Lies. No matter how many spikes we drive through the heart of these Zombie lies, they just keep coming back to life. No amount of kryptonite, logic, reason, proof sources, original evidence, or truth can seem to put an end to them. If the Democrats were as good at spreading truth as they are at resuscitating debunked lies and spreading mummified untruths like they were actual facts, we’d be a different nation.
We might even be able to sit down at Thanksgiving and have a civil conversation with our liberal relatives.
There are some rules to the Zombie Lie Club.
Never mention the Zombie Lie Club to liberals; they won’t believe you and you intensify their conviction that the lies are true
Actually, that’s the one and only rule of the Zombie Lie Club. We know it exists and they don’t. Here are some zingers.
JANUARY 6 WAS AN INSURRECTION. Ironically, not one person involved in the J6 matter was ever even charged with insurrection, much less convicted.
JANUARY 6 WAS THE WORST INSURRECTION IN THE HISTORY OF THIS NATION AND A DAY FAR WORSE THAN PEARL HARBOR. Actually, remember there was a day when revolutionaries bombed—literally bombed—the Senate. Karen Bass, now mayor of Los Angeles, was involved in a leadership position. But a bunch of patriots strolling through Congress was far worse than trying to blow up the Senate.
POLICE OFFICERS WERE KILLED ON JANUARY 6. The only gun at the J6 event was wielded by Capitol Police Office Michael Byrd who used it to shoot an unarmed veteran named Ashli Babbitt. No police officers were killed at the J6 event although one officer (Brian Sicknick) died of a stroke on January 7. By the way, Byrd got a promotion and Babbitt’s family got a wrongful death settlement. Welcome to 2025 America. A total of four people died on January 6, none of them police officers.
JANUARY 6 WAS INSTIGATED BY TRUMP TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT. Donald Trump held a rally on the day that Congress was to ratify or certify the Electoral College votes. It was suspected that some Senators were going to contest the votes (Ted Cruz being one). It is a perfectly legal process and has often been done by Democrats in the past. However, Democrats knew that if Congress started nosing around election results, they might find some credible evidence. So Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat allies wanted to interrupt the process if they could so that no challenges would arise. (She turned down Trump’s offer of sending in the National Guard to keep order.) At his rally, Trump urged people to head to the Capitol and “peacefully and patriotically” protest. In testimony under oath before Congress, it was stated that an unknown number of federal agents were in the J6 crowd that day.
TRUMP HELD THE PARADE FOR THE 250TH BIRTHDAY OF THE U.S. ARMY TO HONOR HIMSELF SINCE IT WAS HIS BIRTHDAY. It was a parade to commemorate the quarter-millennial anniversary of the U.S. Army. Nobody sang “Happy Birthday!” Trump is worth over $6B. If he wanted to hold a birthday party for himself, he could do it without having to detract from the Army’s big day. It is a slur against our armed forces to pretend that their big celebration day “didn’t count” because it fell around the time of Trump’s birthday.
TRUMP IS IN POLITICS FOR THE MONEY AND GRIFT. Trump has not enriched himself while in office; in fact, he lost wealth last time around. This stands in stark contrast to Democrats like the Clintons or the Obamas who come out of the White House massively richer than they went in. Trump does not take a salary while serving. Another thing—Trump’s life would be much easier (and safer from assassins) if he were to step out of politics. He could be playing golf all day and eating his dinner on golden plates if he wanted. Instead, he’s chosen to risk prison, death, impoverishment, and constant aggravation to hold office.
TRUMP IS A CONVICTED FELON. Trump, like Jesus, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, was a victim of a corrupt court system. None of the decisions against Trump will stand up under appeal. Ricochet Cafe has gone over some of these in excruciating detail, so I’ll spare you. The cases are all bogus.
TRUMP IS A RAPIST. Rape is a criminal offense and there is no criminal conviction of Trump for rape. This is like my saying “Biden is a arsonist.” Well, if he hasn’t been convicted of arson, he’s not an arsonist—he might be suspected of arson but he’s not a arsonist unless and until the court says so. There is a civil suit against Trump (that will not stand up under appeal) in which a judge said Trump committed sexual assault against noted nut job E. Jean Carroll, but there is a great deal wrong with the case, including the fact the accuser could not name the day or even year when this occurred. Oh, and she’s brought up numerous other rape charges against wealthy men, and the plot of the Trump “case” is an exact replay of an old Law & Order episode. Just watch her interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN and judge her credibility for yourself.
TRUMP IS A FASCIST. Fascists, as a rule, like big government and a sort of marriage between business and government. This is far more in line with Democrat policies. No fascist would be running DOGE in an effort to downsize the government. No fascist would want lower taxes, more small business, and less bloated government agencies.
TRUMP IS A NAZI. Nazis are a defunct political party that is most notorious for trying to commit genocide against the Jews. Trump has a Jewish son-in-law and a daughter who converted to Judaism and is raising some of his grandkids as Jews. This is not what any real Nazi grandfather would allow. Furthermore, Nazis attacked neighboring countries in order to gain land; Trump has not invaded Canada or Mexico despite the fact that he says and does things that annoy them. Nazis created a system that put Hitler in power for life; Trump abides by our electoral system. Nazis also exempted Hitler from paying income tax; Trump did not demand this privilege for himself, despite being “exactly like a nazi.” People who accuse Trump of being a nazi would do well to learn a little about nazis.
MAGA IS A CULT. Remember when a young man with brain cancer was presented honorary credentials as a Secret Service agent? This happened when Trump addressed a joint session of Congress (sort of like a State of the Union but upon first taking office) right after taking office in 2025. This young man stood up and got his ID card and badge. Republicans cheered. Some people got misty. The young man was thrilled. Some people cheered. Trump smiled from ear to ear. Yet not one single Democrat stood up. Not one. They sat with sour faces and cheesy little signs, glum and miserable that some boy was surviving cancer. Worse than that, it was a Black young man, and they were clearly angry and upset that Black kids were allowed to get medical treatment. Republicans cheered this young man for his courage and some were even crying a little as they saw his dream of being a Secret Service agent come true. But not one Democrat could applaud, much stand up to honor the young man. (Did I mention, he’s Black?) Now which behavior seems more cult-like, that of the Democrats (don’t stand up no matter what) or MAGA?
TRUMP IS NOT A CHRISTIAN. Trump says he is a Christian, however, there is no litmus test for faith to become president. You could argue that Biden isn’t Catholic because he is pro-abortion and abortion in anathema in Catholicism. I choose to accept Trump at his word that he’s a Christian, but you know what? If you’re talking politics, the point is not relevant.
JESUS WOULD HATE TRUMP. This argument varies a bit (Jesus hates the Big Beautiful Bill, Jesus hates DOGE, Jesus hates any government that doesn’t spend billions on give-aways) but generally supports the idea that Jesus is for big government social safety net programs. In actuality, Christ’s admonitions to feed the poor, clothe the naked, and help the marginalized were never directed at government entities. Jesus only met with government officials twice in his life—once He was brought before King Herod (but Jesus did not speak) and once He had a short conversation with Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor of Israel. Neither time did He admonish them to raise tax money for social services. Instead, Jesus told His followers to care for people. It’s a one-on-one thing. Individuals helping individuals. In fact, Jesus said tax money belonged to “Caesar” and not to God.
IF YOU’RE CHRISTIAN, YOU CAN’T VOTE FOR TRUMP. I have heard this a few times, including the variant, “how can you claim to be a Christian and yet support Trump?” The idea in part is that Trump was a playboy in his billionaire boys’ club days. One could argue, as the Apostle Paul did in another context but quite convincingly, that all of us have fallen short of the glory of God. The Democrat party platform includes among its very first items the “right” to abortion on demand, even in the latest stages of pregnancy. That, to me, seems a bit hard to reconcile with Christianity. A guy who cheated on his wife 30 or more years ago is less problematic. But, hey, that’s just me.
MAYBE WE COULD LEARN FROM EACH OTHER (IF YOU JUST LISTENED TO ME). Yeah, well, maybe not. This is often argued by liberals who are just trying to bait you into talking politics with them. Don’t fall for this. If you try to talk to them, they will then interrupt you whenever you make a point, challenge your sources if you use anything non-mainstream-media, and then bring up 12 other random issues to split your focus. Yeah, maybe you could leave me alone. Besides, if a liberal wanted to learn something they could read a book. What they’re saying is that if we listened to them, their brilliance would dazzle us, and we’d become liberals. Fat chance.
MELANIA HATES DONALD. It’s remarkable to me how people who do not know Donald Trump or his wife Melania personally or even casually or have even seen them at a distance know the inner workings of their marriage and the deepest sentiments of their hearts. Most liberals aren’t sure whether to hate Melania or feel sorry for her, but she gets no respect. She also has the remarkable ability to remain aloof and unruffled as the Rosie O’Donnells of the world spiral out of control. And unlike Rosie, Kathie Griffith, Ellen DeGeneres, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, or Steven King, Melania Trump gets better looking every day. There is no evidence to suggest that Melania hates Donald. And even if she did, what does that have to do with my being crushed by crippling tax rates and socialist policies?
DONALD TRUMP DODGED THE DRAFT. Trump did get a military deferment for bone spurs in his feet. Bone spurs are a painful condition that can make it difficult to walk or run long distances. I can’t speak for or against the medical diagnosis, but draft deferments are legal, Trump’s deferment was completely kosher, and the whole concept of a draft deferment is not unusual. Joe Biden got one (for asthma although he wrote in his autobiography he was a star athlete) and Bill Clinton got an educational deferment (1963 to 1968) to go to Georgetown University and later Oxford University. When Clinton’s deferment expired, he joined the ROTC at the University of Arkansas and planned on staying at Oxford to finish his degree. Around this time President Nixon set up a draft lottery; when Bill Clinton found out his birthdate made it virtually impossible for him to be drafted, he backed out of joining the ROTC and was never penalized.
DONALD TRUMP IS STUPID. There is some tired old meme that makes the rounds about Trump being a dumb student in college. I don’t know about his academic performance, but Trump is very articulate, can think well on his feet, and has negotiated peace deals and trade pacts that stand apart from what any other president in recent memory could do. Stupid? No liberal can even reverse-engineer these deals (that is, look at them and explain what Trump did and how he achieved results) much less mimic them. This is like Jeff Spicoli calling Albert Einstein a moron and Elon Musk a slacker.
TRUMP INHERITED HIS WEALTH. This is often preceded by a statement that Trump is not really rich, everything was handed to him on a silver (or in his case, golden) platter. Trump’s father was not born wealthy, but he amassed a sizable fortune in New York real estate. As a young adult, Donald Trump always enjoyed being brought in as a “helper” in his father’s business and he learned the tricky business of New York real estate from the inside. His father, Fred Trump, preferred real estate in the other four boroughs of New York—avoiding pricy, snobby, snooty Manhattan. However, Donald Trump only ever wanted to work in Manhattan, which he saw as a sort of American epicenter of wealth and power. When Donald Trump embarked in business, his father gave him $1M. You might call this an advance on his inheritance or perhaps just a generous gift. Rich parents are allowed to give their kids gifts, even cash. This stake allowed Donald Trump to leave the bridge-and-tunnel world of Fred Trump’s New York real estate business in order to participate in the glitz and glamor of Manhattan. Today, Trump’s net worth is about $6B. His father never gave him $6B or even $1B. He got a million. To take a million and parlay it into a billion means that for every $1 Fred Trump gave his son, Donald Trump turned it into $6,000 over the course of his lifetime. Let’s say you don’t have a rich real estate mogul for a father, but your dad gives you $1,000 as a gift. If you could take that initial gift of $1,000 and parlay it into $6M, you’d be performing on the level of Donald Trump.
