Fani Willis is in the middle of her 15 minutes of fame. I saw her recently on the podcast The Behavior Panel, which looked at her backward-dress courtroom moments with an eye to behavioral indicators she might have been lying. She’s been the subject of lots of other podcasts, including some by Black podcasters who are less than impressed with Fani’s shenanigans. In case you’ve missed Fani’s recent misadventures, she is the Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney who brought RICO charges against Trump. As a person, she puts the “ou” in bougie. Fani filed charges against a political candidate in an election year (election interference):
While she was having an affair with a married man (Nathan Wade)
While she was authorizing payments to said married man
While these payments wound up totaling close to $1M
While Nathan Wade was not qualified to try a RICO case, but was put in charge
And while she and Nathan Wade took posh vacations together
And while the person she was charging was a former President
And that former President was running for office
If we lived in a reasonable, law-abiding world, Fani Willis would already be removed from office and disbarred, or disbarred and removed from office, whatever way that works. She has no business being an attorney, much less the District Attorney for one of America’s largest districts. (Fulton County is the Atlanta area.)
So it’s only reasonable to wonder, how on earth did Fani ascend to that high office? And how is she holding onto it when she’s demonstrated beyond all doubt that she is unqualified and/or corrupt? Funny story.
Fani Willis arrived at her current political power with no particular credentials. The highest office she had ever held prior to being District Attorney was municipal court judge. That’s the judge you go to see if somebody complains because your dog barks too much. Judge Fani at that point had never won any election, ever. She never ran for anything. It looks like right before she got the notion to run for District Attorney, she was thinking of dropping out of the court system altogether and just going into a private legal practice.
Yet once she decided to run for office, she aimed high. She went for the District Attorney’s office. She had no impressive achievements and no big political message. She had no political platform and she’s not a particularly photogenic or charismatic individual. She was running against a guy who did six back-to-back terms. Sort of a super incumbent. In politics, it’s hard to challenge any incumbent, but a six-term incumbent is like a barnacle. They don’t go away without a struggle.
So how did municipal court Fani achieve this momentous electoral upset? It wasn’t because she was a strong campaigner or a brilliant jurist. It wasn’t her stellar campaign or bold new policies. It was because of George Soros.
George Soros, the billionaire trouble-maker, poured $11M into various American elections for District Attorneys. Soros is often criticized for being evil, but he is not stupid. He just does not think like a normal person. District Attorneys wield considerable power in local areas but nobody cares about elections for District Attorneys. These elections are widely ignored, even by the constituents. So the million or so that headed Fani’s way was a mountain of gold for this kind of election effort.
Why did Soros pick Fani Willis? There are just over 30,000 District Attorneys in the United States. Most are elected but in some districts, District Attorney is an appointment. Their job is to prosecute crime in a way that abides by the law. Why would Soros want to back an unknown like Fani Willis for an important court system like the one in Atlanta?
Fani Willis is no Harvard-trained elitist. She went to Howard University, where Kamala Harris went to school, and she got her Juris Doctor (law degree) from Emory University in Atlanta. She never wrote anything impressive about the law while in school or during her career. She never did anything much that made news until she hauled Trump up on RICO charges.
So why was Soros so quick to pour seven figures into getting Fani into the District Attorney’s office?
Well, first of all, Fani is practically Anastasia Romanov to the leftists. She is lefty royalty. She is the daughter (and only child) of John C. Floyd, III, one of the founders of the original Black Panthers. Over time, John Floyd became disillusioned with the Black Panthers and eventually left, earning his own law degree, but his defection is mostly forgotten. Fani descends from the bluest of the blue bloodline of Black Panther royalty. Today, Fani is best categorized as Black-Panther-adjacent but she grew up in a world steeped in racial politics, identity politics, and progressive thinking. She was also taught by a father who believed that the court room was a better battlefield for progressive ideology than the street.
Fani is still close to her father, she often mentions him kindly in her otherwise hysterical rants. He is still alive and he has spoken on her behalf. (Rabbit hole alert… if you want to go down a major rabbit hole, try to find out who Fani’s mother is… Then tell me. I can’t figure it out.)
Second, Fani is not all that bright. She is no Clarence Darrow. But then look at the other Soros-backed District Attorneys. And look at other Soros-backed candidates. Come to think of it, look at the entire Democrat power elite right now. There is not a scholar among them. (Many of them hold advanced degrees but none of them has achieved anything of merit after graduating school, and graduation usually was followed by plagiarism allegations.) Joseph Biden is not a smart man. Kamala Harris is possibly less smart than he is. Look at the progressives in Congress. When was the last time you think Rashida Tlaib or Ayanna Pressley or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes (AOC) read a book? Is Jamal Bowman an intellectual? The man doesn’t know a doorknob from a fire alarm. Is Adam Schiff smart? Quite the opposite. Is Chuck Schumer running an Algonquin Roundtable in the Senate cafeteria? Hardly. How about Ted Lieu? Not a scholar. And don’t even start to talk about Sheila Jackson Lee who recently announced on national television that the moon was made of gases and that the sun was so hot it was hard to travel there.
Right now, about the only Democrat I can name with a lick of common sense is the guy who suffered brain damage from a stroke—John Fetterman.
You would think that a rich powerful man like George Soros would want to use his money to bring bright, intelligent, hard-working, competent leftists into his orbit, but that would not align with progressive goals. I figured out what his goals are because I can see who he picks to support. Soros wants dumb people who are committed to the progressive agenda. Perhaps that is a redundancy. The last thing Soros wants is a bright mind which will reach its own conclusions. If that were the case, he’d urge Ben Shapiro to run for District Attorney somewhere and sponsor Fani Willis to do a podcast.
The reason Soros buys dumb candidates is that a smart person tends to think about things carefully. Smart people weigh alternative viewpoints and explore ideas that may run counter to the official narrative. Smart people look at all sides to a question. They even try to set aside their own biases and emotions as they study out the facts. Smart people contemplate the long-term and short-term consequences of a decision and weigh that in their deliberations. Smart people read. They seek the counsel of minds brighter than their own. They spend more time doing their job than planning their next cruise.
No smart District Attorney in the United States would pursue a former president through the legal system. It’s an unprecedented move, bound to be unpopular, and will put them forever in the history books in the chapters on “How America Became a Banana Republic” and “Most Notable American Traitors of 2024.” Weaponizing the court system and using lawfare to attack a political candidate in an election year is crossing a bright red line. As people who read books might say, it’s crossing the Rubicon. For all you unread Democrats, that means taking a step you can never take back.
This is unprecedented territory and foolish district attorneys rush in where smart lawyers fear to tread. As the old saying goes, if you shoot at the king, you had better not miss. Now for all your literalists, I am not saying Trump is a king, I’m saying that when you step out boldly to take an unprecedented gamble (and that’s what this is), you are taking some major risks. This is a dangerous game. It’s safer to dip your hand in blood and then pet sharks.
The danger is not just to Fani Willis or the other Soros-backed District Attorneys. The danger is primarily to all of us, our children, and our grandchildren. We are building the precedents by which our descendants will have to abide or waste valuable time tearing down.
Here’s a little game for lefties. Let’s say in 10 or 20 years in the future, lefty sweetheart AOC decides to run for President. Would it be OK to wait until her campaign was at its peak to file a suit against her? I know for a fact she has an unpaid tax bill (for about $2,500 since 2012). I’m sure I could craft a RICO case out of that, or at least make one up. I could investigate her and find out other bad stuff she’s done. This would not be hard, since AOC has been hauled before the Ethics Committee before and she’s a relative newcomer to the House of Representatives. So if we now have the precedent that it is acceptable and even appropriate to file charges, real, specious, and imagined, against a person running for office, what if we Republicans were to do that to her?
If you set the precedent that anyone who challenges an incumbent can be dragged into court, you are making this once-remarkable country into a most banal banana republic. Thoughtful people know that. Intelligent people know that. People who read books know that. Fani Willis never thought of it.
A smart lawyer, even just a modestly competent lawyer, knows that RICO laws were designed to apply to organized criminal enterprises. Their use in Atlanta basically assumes that the Trump White House was Vito Corleone’s house. RICO laws are based on the idea that in big crime syndicates and cartels, there is a hierarchy and the biggest boss sits at the pinnacle. This big boss is insulated from the wet work of day-to-day crime through a sometimes complicated network of communications cut-outs. The big boss never orders a drug deal or a murder or anything like that. He goes about normal business but with a wink and nod, he can communicate the goals that filter down to street-level thuggery. The big bosses are never directly involved in ordering crime and thus it is hard to prosecute them.
Does that sound like Trump? His most zealous detractors argue that he ran a chaotic White House and that as a communicator, he was far too likely to speak his mind directly and unapologetically. That is the very antithesis to running a RICO enterprise. Trump was a loudmouth who talked too much, spoke too bluntly, and nobody knew who was in charge when he was in President. That makes a RICO case practically impossible.
They’re using RICO law not because it is applicable, but because it means if anything bad happens, Trump can be held legally responsible even if he never ordered it, talked about it, in fact, he did not even have to know about it. He could still be charged with it! If we applied RICO to Biden, we could pin the Uvalde mass shooting on him. If we really used RICO creatively, we could blame Biden for the recent earthquake in Japan.
Any smart lawyer would know that, and the United States is full of smart lawyers. It’s just that Soros never bankrolls them. The last thing Soros wants in office is a smart lawyer. He wants dimwits with progressive values and the right identity politics. In other words, he wants a person with the right physical appearance and sexual preferences, but who is also as dumb as a rock. Furthermore, Soros also wants this person to be morally bankrupt. Put those three things together: dumb, right identity politics, and no moral compass. That’s the Soros trifecta.
But why would Soros back a morally compromised person like Fani? Fani was known to be involved in an affair with a married man. Some lefties think that is wonderful and empowering, but it is actually a bad thing and it used to even be illegal. While I know (and read on social media) that many people on the left are cheering adultery as if it were some sort of modern womanly virtue, morality is another discussion for another day. The political abyss Fani jumped into was hiring an unqualified man for the job—who happened to be her lover—and overpaying him with taxpayer money. And to make matters worse, Fani made sure that her lover spent a good chunk of the nearly million bucks she threw at him on her and her vacations. She claims she paid him back for all the cruises and vacations they shared, but she did so in cash and seemed both startled and profoundly offended at the idea that a District Attorney is supposed to keep receipts for this sort of thing.
Soros likes people who are morally malleable. Compromised people are even better, since they have already proven that their morals are deficient. Soros needs people to do what they are told to do. I can’t prove this, but I believe Fani Willis was somehow directed to go after Trump. Once the case opened, evidence emerged that the Biden White House went totally hands-on. There are records of Nathan Wade (Fani’s married boyfriend) visiting the White House. We know he went there because he expensed the travel to the Georgia taxpayers. He had meetings with officials, he was not taking the White House tour.
Only a morally compromised person would agree to collude with an incumbent to pursue a political opponent in an election year on charges so thin that to call them “bogus” is an exaggeration. The Grimm Brothers could not have made up a less-convincing fairy tale that going after Trump on RICO charges.
Remember, Fani is the District Attorney. She could have refused to bring the case; the District Attorney has considerable discretion in this area. She could have agreed to consider the case and then refused to participate. She has no trouble yelling at people in authority or bullying judges, so she could have told the people who urged her to file this case to buzz off. She did none of that. Soros was the guy who handed her a million bucks to run for District Attorney. Like a trained rat, she knows that if she wants more pellets, she has to press the lever. Fani entered into this travesty with eyes wide open, because she has no moral compass. She’s compromised, she lacks integrity. And she’s not too bright.
That’s who Soros wants. He only buys defective merchandise.
You might argue with me here and say, what good is it to get a bunch of dummies into political office? They won’t be able to bring a case against the local hood-rats, much less a former President and currently running Presidential candidate.
It’s not about winning.
I don’t think Soros believes he can win using lawfare against Trump in any traditional way. Maybe it will happen, but most likely it won’t. He would probably be as surprised as anyone if any of this worked in a legal way. That’s not the point. It was never the point. The point is to burn up time on the news cycle (there is a lot of attention being focused on Trump’s legal battles and attention is the scarcest commodity there is). Bringing a lot of negative attention on Trump complete with staged and well-choreographed anti-Trump demonstrations wastes Trump’s time and money. It is also intended to make people abandon Trump, who is now being called everywhere in the media “a criminal.”
To be fair, I think that if a Soros shill can win a case, Grandpa Soros would be happy, but winning is tangential. This is 100% about harassment. Soros does not care a bit if Fani wins or loses. A good legal mind would actually be an impediment to her; she has to be obedient to the cause. Soros doesn’t care if Fani exposes herself to the point that she goes to prison, and while I do not think that is likely, I think it is more than possible. George Soros doesn’t care about her or her career or the law. He cares about keeping Trump out of office because it’s the fastest path to destroying America. Soros is committed to destroying America.
Which brings me to Biden and Harris. How on earth out of over 330 million Americans did we find these two low-information, low-charisma, low-appeal individuals? When I hear how Biden got more votes than any other Presidential candidate in history—far more than Barack Obama and more than Trump in 2016—why it is almost unbelievable.
How did Biden get the White House? Soros and the power brokers behind the curtain do not want a smart or free-thinking President. A smart President might have had second thoughts about leaving the border open. A smart President might have thought, nobody is going to believe we need billions upon billions to fight the myth of climate change. A smart President would not have gotten involved in Ukraine without a solid and diplomatically viable exit strategy. A smart President would be more concerned about 300 Americans dying every day of fentanyl than about junk fees charged by airlines. A smart President would not have flubbed foreign affairs in Afghanistan, the Middle East, Iran, Ukraine, and the Red Sea.
Biden isn’t smart. For Soros, that’s his selling point. That’s why he’s in office. In fact, he is the ideal President for Soros—he doesn’t know where he is and his dementia is so bad he is often excused from answering questions. He falls down, goes on vacation a lot, and says things that don’t make sense. His most amazing recent remark is that his uncle Bosey was eaten by cannibals. (This lie was so preposterous the White House even had to admit it was a lie.) Just when you start to think Biden lies are getting boring, he comes out with a zinger. Cannibals!
In short, Biden is perfect for Soros. He does as he is told and he gets ice cream. He has no idea how to tweet; he can barely speak. Best of all, Biden is corrupt. Soros can count on his corruption because he’s the crooked politician’s crooked politician. Plus there is always plenty of blackmail material. I’m sure if Biden needs to do something Soros found disagreeable, team Soros can find another volume of Ashley’s diary.
What these compromised and deficient individuals do not realize is that they are being used and will eventually be discarded. Soros has hand-picked an army of obedient soldiers whom nobody cares about. When the power brokers want to dispense with them, they will. When this happens the most surprised people will be the ones it happens to. And no one will stand up for them. Who is going to go to bat for Fani when she’s disbarred? No one. If Fani gets in serious trouble, Soros is not going to help her. The power elitists who put her into office won’t stand up for her. Nobody will aid her. I bet even her ex-boyfriend Nathan drops a dime on her. They’ll talk trash about her as the authorities drag her off.
When Lenin first coined the term “useful idiot,” he was talking about this tactic. (Linguists, beware. Lenin’s term was better translated “useful fools” but it got modified over time by English speakers. I think he still gets credit for coming up with the term and explanation.) Useful idiots are expendable. They’re cheap. There’s millions of them out there and they’ll work for a million here, a million there. To Soros, that’s pocket change. And when they crash and burn, who cares?
Actually, once Fani does her dirty work against Trump, it’s probably better for Soros if she gets thoroughly discredited and goes off to prison—less risk to Soros.
Right now, obedient Fani is doing what Soros wants her to do—she stirred the pot. She brought the ludicrous charges. She made a big stink. She set everything in motion and she’s going to be the one left standing or falling when it’s all said and done. She was just too dumb to see that she was being used. Soros just wanted to see the drama; when the play is over, he’s shutting down the theater.
The same power brokers who installed Resident Biden into the White House are the same ones who will push him off the roof when he no longer serves them. They don’t love him. They don’t even like him. He is a tool, a gadget to do their bidding who is expendable and replaceable. Sort of like a Roomba that eats ice cream.
And that’s why there are so many low-information people in progressive politics. If you think this is an exaggeration, you need only look at the Russian Revolution or Mao’s takeover of China or how Castro grabbed power in Cuba. Dumb people are installed, do bad stuff, and then are hung out to dry, and that last phrase is literal.
This is a warning to progressives, who as far as I know, do not read this Substack. The forces playing you are bigger and more sinister than you imagine.
