When Ricochet Café decided to close for the interregnum period between outgoing Mr. Potato Head and incoming hero Donald Trump, there were a few things we got right.
We anticipated that despite assurances to the contrary that Joe Biden would pardon his son Hunter for tax evasion ($1.3M) and felony gun charges
We were convinced that Kamala would lose the election and then go on a mega-bender and post it on social media
We fully believed that liberals would be unhappy and insult Republicans
We imagined that the lefties would start attacking each other in a circular firing squad over their shortcomings
We knew that Trump’s cabinet picks would raise eyebrows
But we got some things wrong. On the less important side, we did not realize that Kamala would blow through over $1B on her failed and very brief campaign (and the numbers keep going up, some sources say it’s closer to twice that). We also thought there would be riots rather than group head-shaving events and self-sterilizations. So that goes in the plus column: no riots.
But what we had not anticipated and what brings us back early is we did not think Biden would leave us one more lasting legacy: World War III.
A Brief History of the War in Ukraine
With Ukraine, geography is destiny. Ukraine is a surprisingly large nation—it’s the largest nation in Europe if you don’t count Russia. Situated uncomfortably between the modernized European West and the more traditional Russian Empire, Ukraine has suffered a multi-century identity crisis. From time to time, it’s been part of Russia, and from time to time it’s been independent. But you have to realize that there are many people in Ukraine—in fact, judging by the election in 2014 which Victoria Nuland managed to nullify—more voters in Ukraine align ideologically with Russia than the United States.
Despite the Ukrainian affinity for Russian culture, Ukraine is surprisingly complaint with mad scientists of the West. Ukraine is home to possibly two dozen American-subsidized biolabs. The aforementioned ghoul Nuland testified before Congress to the fact that Ukraine is the site of American biolabs. We just don’t know how many and we don’t know what they were up to. But when has a top-secret biolab run by American intelligence on foreign soil ever been doing humanitarian work?
In addition, Ukraine is a hub for human trafficking, sex trafficking, and money laundering.
Now it’s hard to measure corruption since it’s the sort of thing best done in the dark, but Ukraine is considered a very corrupt country. There is a thing called the Corruption Perceptions Index, which measures how corrupt we think a country is. (God bless America where you can earn a living measuring such things as the perception of corruption.) Think of it as a reputational index rather than an actual metric of corrupt practices. Of 180 nations around the world, Ukraine ranks 104 and the United States ranks 69. Considering what I know about America, being ranked 104 sounds bad.
And Piotr Kulpa, a former Deputy Minister of Poland, estimates that at least half of all aid given to Ukraine is embezzled. This may explain why Zelenskyy has offshore accounts in Malta and the Caribbean. The Foreign Policy journal says that Ukraine is far too corrupt to be allowed entry into NATO.
Russia sees Ukraine as a historical part of Russia; there are certainly many cultural ties. And in the old Soviet Union, Ukraine was actually part of Russia. So we’re not talking ancient history here.
More importantly, Russia would like to see the germ factories springing up in Ukraine and funded by their arch-enemy the United States go away. Not an unreasonable demand. If Russia had planted 20 bio-terrorism labs in Mexico, we might object, too.
Russia had always said that it did not want Ukraine to have nuclear weapons or to join NATO—it’s just too close for comfort. Russia begrudgingly let Ukraine have its independence but wanted it to be a buffer state between Mother Russia, to the east, and Europe, to the west. In other words, Ukraine was to be independent, non-nuclear, and not doing gain-of-function research for the United States.
So what has happened? Ukraine used to have nuclear weapons. It gave them up since the United States via NATO promised to protect Ukraine. And the United States promised Russia that Ukraine would not be in NATO. This worked for a while, until Ukraine got interested in NATO and the United States seemed on board with the idea.
I’m no psychologist, but I think this got on Putin’s nerves.
When Putin saw the absolute debacle of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, he knew he could move in and bring Ukraine back into the fold. From Putin’s perspective, it seemed like a sound move to protect Russia. He could get rid of the biolabs, rein in the human trafficking (you think Russian women and children aren’t affected by this?), and restore Ukraine to Russia. Remember, in 2014, Ukraine held a free election and they voted for the pro-Russian candidate. This is what Ukraine wanted—but Victoria Nuland threw that out and installed a puppet government.
That’s how we got here.
The Nuclear Strike
Ukraine no longer has nuclear weapons, so Russia did not fear a nuclear attack from Ukraine. Ukraine is not part of NATO, so an invasion of Ukraine would not signal a NATO attack. Biden was in charge, his regime was a joke, and his PRIDE-emphasizing military could not have fought their way out of a Girl Scout camp. Putin may be many things, but he is not stupid. He saw the Biden regime as an opportunity to solve the nettlesome problem of Ukraine.
Putin invaded Ukraine and that should have shocked no one but it shocked everyone who relies on the mainstream media (MSM) for their news. The war seemed to go on forever and cost hundreds of thousands of lives. It also cost billions of American tax dollars, a lot of which went to Madame Zelenska’s Cartier account. The Biden administration had the crazy idea that perpetuating an endless war was good for America because it would deplete the Russian military reserves. In other words, we could fight Russia (for no apparent reason other than they hated our germ-warfare labs on their border) without actually fighting them directly.
That’s what they say. Of course, the truth is something else again.
Let me tell you why Biden likes this war. When we send over, say $50B to Ukraine for the war, Ukraine spends at least part of that money on war equipment—tanks, mortars, shells, missiles, drones, and so on. They buy those very expensive products from American companies. Or they get them as used products, but they’re still not cheap. If you are a stockholder or board member of some of these weapons companies, that money comes right back to you. Stock holders get it with rising share prices; board members get it in salaries and bonuses. So every time the American taxpayers get another billion-dollar bill for Ukraine, know that a lot of American politicos are putting cash in their pockets.
It’s like the hippies told us in the 1960s: war is good business.
When the Biden regime leaves office, the Bidenites might have simply just left the hundreds of thousands of graves and the rubble for Trump to clean up. We know Trump wants to stabilize Ukraine and bring peace to the region. He’s on record saying this war was unnecessary.
But Biden did the unthinkable. I don’t know if Biden himself did it or his regime did it. That is a quibble at the moment, since these things are happening and since Biden is still officially, albeit illegitimately, POTUS, let’s charge it to his account.
He gave to Ukraine the MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile systems (called ATACMS or Attack-ums). These are supersonic ballistic missiles. It’s not a nuclear warhead; an ATACM is a dangerous bomb attached to a highly target-able rocket that goes faster than the speed of sound. The reason you’d need an ATACM is that it can travel as far as 300 km (about 190 miles) so they can be launched from a distance at far-off targets. Just to put this in perspective, 190 miles is approximately as far as Washington, D.C. is from Newark, New Jersey.
What Biden wanted—and what Zelenskyy was willing to do—was to bomb Russia. However, Zelenskyy has not captured any Russian territory. The only way Zelenskyy can cause damage on Russian soil is with one of these long-range missiles. Zelenskyy has only one tool to bomb Russian cities, and Biden refused to give it to him until, all of a sudden, he got them and the troops to fire them.
And bomb they did. Ukraine fired seven of these ATACMs into Russia and hit a weapons depot in the town of Karachev, Russia. Reports are that Russia was allegedly able to shoot down some of these missiles; reports range from two missiles shot down to six shot down. No injuries have been reported, so maybe the Russian reports of shooting down all but one of the ATACMS was right.
Why This? Why Now?
Since Ukraine does not have or could not otherwise obtain these weapons itself, it would be fair to say that the United States is enabling this attack on Russia. Biden had previously restricted Ukraine from launching attacks within Russia, but that ban got lifted and suddenly Biden delivered the very missiles needed to do it.
Why now? Well, it appears to the cynical among us that Biden intends to launch World War III before exiting the Oval Office. He was able to trick the Democrats into having to run Kamala, now he’s going to spring World War III on Trump. Hell hath no fury like a Biden scorned. What better way to get even with Donald Trump and the MAGA Patriots than have America destroyed in a nuclear holocaust?
The very use of ATACMs by Ukraine against Russia means that America is directly involved in an attack on Russia. And it’s not just American technology. American military personnel are needed to launch these missiles. That means, we just sent the missiles and the people and the money to bomb Russia. There are American boots on the ground in Ukraine and they’re bombing Russia.
Think about that for a second.
The United States is a NATO nation. Thus, if one argues that the United States has attacked Russia with these ATACMS, then Russia would be reasonable in interpreting this event as an act of war. The United States commited an act of war against Russia. All of my life, American and Russian politicians have been avoiding this showdown, and Biden launches it for no reason at all except for revenge against Trump and to punish the American nation that made him and his creepy family undeservedly rich.
Back in September of this year, Russia signed a decree that said that a conventional attack (non-nuclear) on Russia which is supported by a nation that is a nuclear power could merit a nuclear response by Russia. This means if the U.S., being a nuclear power, facilitates a conventional attack on Russia soil, the Russians might go nuclear.
I think one could argue those conditions have been met. Now what kind of a moron launches an attack that could prompt a nuclear response for no reason? What reason does Biden have to risk nuclear war? It is not going to help Ukraine. It’s not going to benefit the United States. It is not going to hurt Russia. All it does it risk global annhiliation in an act of political revenge.
That’s why I think Biden’s doing this—he never does anything sensible. Everything he does is either to make himself rich or to punish people he imagines oppose him. The latter is a long and growing list, indeed.
Biden knows he’s lighting the fuse to World War III.
What Next?
We have all the chess pieces in place for World War III, but a lot depends on Vladimir Putin. He may be unwilling to launch a major attack on the West, particularly considering that Biden has one foot out of the door of the White House and the other foot on a banana peel. Right now, it’s just a matter of time as to whether the Grim Reaper or the U-Haul truck moves Biden out of the White House first. So Putin may view Biden as the petulant toddler having a tantrum and hitting his mother in the grocery store. It’s bad behavior, but there’s no reason to put a little brat in a choke hold and zip ties because he acts out. Kids don’t always know what they’re doing.
Alternatively, maybe Biden doesn’t even know what’s going on.
A good argument could be made that Biden—who is on one of yet another of his many vacations—has no idea what is going on in Ukraine or Russia or even what an ATACM is. And Kamala Harris is on vacation or drunk-tweeting her Democrat supporters. She has no idea what’s going on and that’s sheer ignorance on her part.
Putin may be willing to bide his time until Trump can intervene.
At the risk of sounding like Kamala Harris, nuclear war is war that is nuclear. While Joe Biden and his band of Democrat losers may not realize how bad nuclear war can be, Putin does. Nevertheless, we have reason to be concerned. As Ricochet Café has pointed out in previous articles, Russia has more nuclear weapons that the United States and China combined. Putin has the goods and just a couple months ago he put down on paper that he was willing to use them, if challenged.
The big problem is whether the Biden regime plans on poking the bear some more. Putin may be playing a waiting game and he’s a patient man—but he’s not endlessly patient. At some point, enough attacks may cause him to respond.
And since I think this is an act that clearly shows Biden wants to end his term with World War III, he may keep doing things until he gets his wish. After all, Biden has the nuclear codes. We don’t.
The mainstream media (MSM) is curiously indifferent to these events, which suggests that my theory is true. The media blackout suggests that either MSM journalists don’t know what’s going on (always likely) or they think it would be great to ruin Trump’s second term with a nuclear disaster. Democrats do not have a good understanding of physics or medicine—they may even think a nuclear war won’t affect them.
And that’s scary. If Russia does respond, even in a tempered way, it will be propagandized to the United States MSM audiences as yet another example of what a bad guy Putin is and why we should give Zelenskyy another few hundred billion more.
This may end up in unmitigated disaster. Or it may go down in history as “Putin and Trump Save the World.” Imagine when your national interests (not getting dead) align more closely with the interests of Vladimir Putin than those of the current sitting President.
I too have been following these events. Obviously nervously !!! I agree that Biden is on a kiss my ass on the way out tour. I believe (and hope and pray) that Putin sees the big picture. He and his beloved motherland could also suffer greatly. I think he has a mutual respect and possibly even admiration for Trump and his leadership qualities. I don’t think he will take the bait. At least at this point. Who knows what else the zombie in chief has up his sleeve ??
I am cautiously optimistic about America’s future. After seeing how badly Harris ran her campaign (and those funds) I am extremely relieved that she is not the President elect !!!!!
I am shocked that so many are shocked.
I pray for a peaceful transition, in every sense of the word. Nice to have you back writing. ❤️🙏
