A Short Public Service Announcement Not to Vote for RFK Jr.

American politics are filled with crazy characters. This year, we started into election season with a real estate tycoon and reality TV star billionaire running against a man in profound cognitive decline who was on vacation more often than he was in office. Nobody knows who is running the government, until the muddle-headed man was drop-kicked out of the race and replaced by his Vice President, a woman of no accomplishments who got her first political jobs by dating a married man twice her age. That new candidate is ambitious but not very articulate and although she won a seat in the senate as America’s first South Asian Senator, she now portrays herself as Black although she grew up in an Indian household in a white neighborhood, went to a mostly-white prep school in Montreal, and had slave-owning ancestors.

Well, America has always been an interesting country.

However, RFK, Jr., can run them all up a tree when it comes to out-of-the-box weirdness. And remember this Presidential race also had hot-headed race-baiter Marc Elias and occult guru Marianne Williamson running until Kamala booted them out.

RFK Jr. was on the Roseanne Barr podcast the other day. In case you don’t know her podcast, it’s definitely worth a subscription. Now RFK Jr. is a man running for President but when he got the cold shoulder from establishment Democrats (not to mention no Secret Service detail from Biden), he went Independent. His campaign is a lesson in bizarre. He has enough name recognition and some ideas to get some votes. He hates Bill Gates, for example. He questions vaccine safety and Big Pharma. He’s a Kennedy.

Then every Kennedy crawled out of the woodwork and not only failed to endorse him, they actively told America not to vote for him. Well, his past might have had something to do with it. RFK Jr. was a heroin addict for many years. Some people say once you’re an addict, you’re always an addict or at least you have that tendency. So whether you use or not, you’re vulnerable to addiction. RFK Jr. claims to have kicked (that’s what addicts say when they stop using) years ago. He was also a sex addict. Although he said he’s kicked, at the time he was more active, he kept a very detailed and highly specific journal of his various conquests, which was found by his wife Mary Richardson. The wife (the second of his three wives) was alleged to have mental illness but they were also getting divorced and RFK Jr. was not very generous with money. Let’s just say that the second Mrs. Kennedy likely felt humiliated, unappreciated, and unsupported.

In case you can’t place him exactly, RFK Jr. is the one with their weird voice. He can’t help that, it’s a neurologic disorder called spasmodic dysphonia. The cause is unknown and there is no cure. He can talk and laugh normally but the voice has a harsh, raspy quality.

You may remember when he announced to the press recently that doctors found a worm in his brain. That RFK Jr. He also has an unusual hobby: he keeps falcons. Birds of prey. Odd thing for a guy who claims to live in Westchester, New York (in New York City, kind of near Long Island). He was also recently in a controversy as to whether or not he had barbecued and eaten a dog.

Yes, this is 2024 America and these are the people who want to run the government.

Back to the baby bear. RFK Jr. just admitted on Roseanne’s podcast that one time he saw a baby bear cub killed on a New York roadway. The cub had been killed by a car, which left the scene. RFK Jr. at first thought it might be fun to pick up the dead cub, skin it, and eat the bear meat. He said that eating roadkill is legal in New York, which is an odd point of law to know off the top of your head.

Now remember that RFK Jr. is or was a drug and sex addict. Addicts typically do long-term damage to their brains, particularly to executive function. Executive function is the part of the brain that tells us what is a good idea and what is a dumb idea. It also helps us sequence things, so if we do A, we know what B and C and D are going to have to be. I think this bear cub story shows that RFK Jr. has some serious executive dysfunction consistent with his medical history of addiction.

RFK allegedly lived in Westchester, New York City, at the time (a subject of some controversy, but that’s another story for another day). He had planned to go home and start skinning the bear, when he realized all of a sudden that he had to fly somewhere. He realized he couldn’t very well leave a dead baby bear in his van at an airport parking lot, so he had an idea. There had been a number of bicycle accidents in Central Park. He thought he could use the dead bear to make a point about the bicycle accidents. I don’t know why this weighed heavily on RFK Jr., but he remembered he had an old bicycle at home.

He drives home, gets the old bike, and then “stages” a scene in some bushes in Central Park. He puts the dead bear cub in the bushes, slightly visible, and arranges the bicycle to make it look as if the bicyclist had somehow killed the bear and run off.

In addition to this being insane, RFK Jr. then laughingly recounts the episode on a podcast. Nobody was “discovered” this event. He related it freely.

Remember this happened in 2014. RFK Jr was 60 years old at the time. Not a kid.

He set the bear cub tableau and left. The New York Times reported on the story when an elderly passer-by saw the cub’s body and found the whole scene so disturbing she called the police. The state of New York did a necropsy (that’s an autopsy but for an animal) and came to the conclusion the bear died of trauma from a motor vehicle collision.

About 15 years earlier, RFK had been named one of Time Magazine’s “Heroes of the Planet” for his environmental work. Now he’s staging weird scenes with dead bear cubs since he didn’t have time to go home and barbecue the bear for dinner.

Don’t vote for RFK, Jr. He’s nuts.
