Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris has made two surprising announcements this week. First, she’s not running for Governor of California. This is a bit unexpected since she’d have a good chance of winning. Some have interpreted this move as meaning she’s going to run for President again. This would be unusual, since by and large, in the Democrat world, once you fail in one presidential race, you don’t usually get another chance. The notable exception to this was Joe Biden, who perhaps reinforces the wisdom of not letting failed candidates take second (or in his case, third) bites at the apple.
The second unexpected thing is that Kamala is writing a book—a sort of campaign diary and personal memoir, as she describes it—called 107 Days. It is being published by Simon & Schuster, a large and reputable publishing house, and it is due out on September 23, 2025. Of course, it’s being written by a ghost writer or even a team of them. I don’t fault her for that at all, most celebrities and politicians and even business people use ghost writers. It’s not unethical, immoral, or unexpected. Writing a book is hard work—it’s like building your own house. Most people rely on experts, and writing a book requires a degree of expertise. (Ghost writers take the author’s content, ideas, experiences, and so on and organize them into a coherent book—they don’t make stuff up for the book, they just assemble it.)
Political books are nothing new and, to some extent, it’s sort of reasonable that Kamala would do something like this. Hillary wrote some tragic book about her 2016 dumpster fire. Generally, the winner don’t write books, the losers do.
Some say that writing this book is step one toward Kamala’s long and intentional march to her next presidential campaign in 2028. The idea is that perhaps the book will present her ideas or persona in a favorable light. Maybe it will revive her image as a viable candidate instead of a cackling airhead. Maybe it will be an antidote to all that word salad she served up in 2024.
No.
I don’t think that’s why she’s writing it at all.
Publish or Perish
Follow the money. And in this case, Simon & Schuster won’t say what Kamala’s payday is.
Most authors of high-profile books (and even mid-range books) get an advance, a payment from the publisher that helps the writer cover expenses as the book is written. Later on, as the book starts selling, the author’s advance is deducted from royalties so that the publisher recoups their advance investment. So if I get a $10,000 advance on a book, as the publisher sells the book, the first $10,000 goes to pay back the publisher, then I start getting royalties. (Book royalties vary widely, depending on the type of book, the status and clout of the author, and other factors, but the ones I’m familiar with are in the range of 10% or 20% of the list price of the book.)
When Joe Biden made a deal to write his memoirs (or, more correctly, to have them ghost written), he got a $10M advance. It’s ironic that a guy who can’t remember anything is being compensated so heartily for his memories.
That $10M sum is huge, even for a president. Of course, Joe is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), one of the top talent agencies in the world. In the movie world, CAA represents only the titans, the highest runk of the high-dollar player. CAA represents Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, and other people you may have heard of. But they also represent musicians, athletes, and politicians. Represented by CAA are Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Kamala Harris. So a powerhouse agency like CAA is likely to be positioned to nail down a major payday for Kamala Harris.
The amount of the advance paid to Kamala has not been announced. That’s not illegal, but it is unusual. A hefty advance is sometimes use to gin up publicity for the book or to suggest that the book is going to be a major seller. Biden’s publishers couldn’t wait to tell us they were shelling out $10M for his book.
Why radio silence about Kamala’s advance?
It could be that the publisher is waiting for a better time to make the announcement in order to get maximum public relations traction. It might also be that they don’t want to tell the publishing world what they’re spending. There might be some rivalry between her and Biden if she got a bigger advance than the old man. But there’s another reason.
Maybe it’s a payoff.
How It Could Allegedly Maybe Possibly Be a Payoff
Book publishing and bribery go together like car washes and money laundering. It’s one of the neatest, cleanest ways to deliver a payoff to a person and it’s all above-board except for the foul intent. Book publishers are free to pay their authors whatever they want. They could, in theory at least, hire a team of ghost writers to work with Kamala to develop this book and they could give her an advance of $500M. I’m not saying they did that, I’m saying they could. After all, it’s their money. It’s like if you want to buy my car, you can pay $100,000 for it if you want. It’s not worth that, but it’s not illegal to overpay me.
Let’s say they offer a huge advance, maybe in the vicinity of $50M. But what if the book doesn’t make that kind of money? Most books make very little money. People don’t read that much anymore, alternative media has eaten into their profits, plus the self-publishing and audio book industries have contributed to the crunch. This doesn’t mean a blockbuster can’t make bank. J. K. Rowling did that with the Harry Potter series. It’s rare, but not unheard of.
But let’s say I want to give Kamala Harris some financial incentive to do something. Maybe I want to encourage her not to run for the White House in 2028. Or maybe I want to encourage her to speak only favorably about the Democrat Party, Barack Obama, or Joe Biden. Maybe I don’t want her to air any specific dirty laundry. Maybe she knows things from the Biden era that the Democrats would rather keep under wraps. Maybe she knows about the cocaine deliveries to the White House. Maybe she knows about scams and high drama. Who knows? And let’s say that the Democrat organization wants her to keep quiet about some things or to speak favorably about Biden and the party.
(Remember, the Democrats have lost some power players already—Lindy Li, the donor whisperer, has defected from the Democrats. Karine Jean-Pierre is no longer a Democrat. So they could be trying to prevent her defection and a tell-all book. There’s no love lost between the Bidens and Kamala Harris.)
Now the actual payoff has to be handled a bit outside the framework of the publishing outfit. Let’s say a Democrat operative has gathered $50M to make a deal for Kamala to not talk about certain things (or not run for governor of California or not speak harshly about Biden). That operative can approach a publisher. The whole “book deal” is financed by or via the operative. The operative pays the publisher who gets the ghost writers, the photographers, the graphic designers (book layout can be tricky), plus he gives the publisher a specific amount—in this example $50M—with instructions to hand it to Kamala as an advance. The operative also pays the production costs (the costs to print the book) and the distribution expenses (to get the book to book stores and Amazon). The whole thing costs a lot more than just the advance, but the advance is the crucial component built in to the payoff.
It’s a nice way to take bribe money and sanitize it through a publisher. The publisher actually publishes the book. But at this point, it’s immaterial if the book sells or not. The operative has bankrolled the whole publication, so the publisher does not care one way or the other—they’ve got their money. If the book goes on to generate huge sales, the publisher gets a bonus. If it never sells a single legitimate copy, the publisher still got paid.
You may be wondering how such books rise to the top of best-seller lists. That’s easily accomplished with money as well. Our old friend, the operative or some other organization or group of organizations can buy up thousands of copies. They can do this to distribute to libraries, send them to schools, or give them to donors. They could even just fill up some dumpsters. It’s not illegal to buy books, and it’s not illegal if all of the thousands of books sold go to just a couple of buyers. The best-seller lists track sales, not the number of individual book buyers.
And as for book reviews, a good public relations person can put this book in the hands of book reviewers across the country, even around the world, and they’ll review it. What might be lacking is word of mouth, but that won’t matter much in the long run.
Is this what is being done with Kamala’s book? I have no idea. I’m just saying that publishing is a very nifty way to give a whole lot of money to a person to influence them. I think it falls within the realm of the plausible.
What Is She Selling?
This is an intriguing question. To me, Kamala’s political future outside of the Governor’s mansion in Sacramento looks bleak. She’s not good at running for federal office, she’s not articulate, she’s not well informed about major issues, and she spends donor money like a drunken sailor. Charlie Kirk at his Turning Point debates has a show-stopper question. He asks liberals who support Kamala Harris what her greatest accomplishment is. I’ve seen tons of these debate clips and I never saw anyone answer that question well. (Some say her greatest accomplishment was being a vice president, but that’s a resume item, not an achievement.) 2028 is a long way off in political years and a big bright star in the Democrat ranks could easily eclipse Kamala on the national stage forever. So I don’t think they’re asking her to run for President or not to run for President again. The results would be the same, either way, but the latter is cheaper.
Was Kamala offered a big fat bribe to take a pass on running for Governor of California? Considering that California is already infested with the likes of Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass, Adam Schiff, Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi, I don’t think this is it. California seems to preferentially elect weirdos. I think Kamala had a really good chance of winning the governor’s office, but she said she’s not running. I don’t think this was about California.
My speculation is that Kamala knows things about the Biden regime. It’s actually a two-way street, because I’m hearing rumors and rumors of rumors that the Biden family knows some dirt on Kamala (mainly that she did not know what she was doing). So Biden and Harris both likely know things about the other that they don’t want shared with the public.
This reminds me of the Clintons. I’ve always thought that Bill and Hillary will never get divorced because they have legal protection against having to ever testify against the other. I guess their wedding vows were promises to love, honor, and maintain spousal privilege. But Joe Biden and Kamala Harris do not have spousal privilege, and that suggests that Kamala could dish some really bad dirt on Biden. And considering we already know about the Autopen, open borders, his cover up of his mental deterioration, the Ukraine and Hunter’s shell companies, not to mention the diastrous and deadly Afghanistan withdrawal, it must be some really bad dirt.
So is it beyond the realm of possibility that maybe Kamala is being paid some hush money? Or perhaps some go-away money, such as take this loot and go find a new non-political career?
And that makes me wonder—if Kamala really has some scorched-earth information on the Biden crime family, maybe it would make a really good book. Irony is so ironic. It’s like she’s being paid off to publish a bland book.
What’s Next?
Truth has a way of coming out. The United States under then-President Lyndon Baines Johnson marshalled all of the federal agencies along with money and manpower and media manipulation to cover up the Kennedy assassination by pinning it on a 20-something year old who had the misfortune of working intelligence and being at the scene the day of the assassination. A most preposterous story was sold to the American public.
But the truth came out, or perhaps more correctly, the truth is still coming out. There is a saying in the Bible that there is nothing hidden that will not come to light, nor anything secret that will not be made known.
The funny thing is that this kind of publishing stunt actually hurts the Democrat brand. Biden and Harris were terrible in office and the kindest and most helpful thing they could do for their party is to step quietly into the shadows and hope better leaders step forward.
But I’m not going to tell them that. Are you?
Did you see the interview on Colbert ? I don’t even think SHE knows what’s in the book 😅 why would anyone want to read about an epic failure ? I suspect poor sales will commence. I think she couldn’t get donor $ to run for governor. I find it doubtful she would get a second crack at the White House !!! I don’t know why anyone gives her any attention ? Maybe she would be useful in campaigning for someone else ?? But I wouldn’t want her anywhere in the picture as I would want to distance myself from the entire Biden administration. I don’t know how or why people are paying any amount of money for Harris or Biden to speak ?? Neither can compete a coherent thought.
Yes. The book title is 107 days .
Or how to “blow” 11 million dollars a day and still lose.
