Joe Biden said repeatedly that he would not pardon his son Hunter Biden after Hunter pleaded guilty to gun charges and charges of tax evasion. Then Joe pardoned Hunter. Was anyone surprised? Joe Biden never tells the truth, so I interpreted his assurances that he would never pardon Hunter to indicate that he would do it. If you always bet that Joe Biden will lie, you’ll rarely be wrong.
What I had not anticipated was that Hunter would get some sort of blanket pardon that was good for unspecified crimes committed over the course of over a decade. This is the ultimate “get out of jail free” card. Anything Hunter did—up to and including murder, human trafficking, cannibalism, kidnapping—is covered providing it happened in that 11-year window.
As Ben Shapiro pointed out, when Joe Biden signed the pardon, it stretched a few hours into the future. Hunter could have gone off on a crime spree in those hours and faced no penalties.
The mainstream media (MSM) is interpreting this incorrectly, thinking that Joe Biden did it to protect his son, whom he loves so dearly. Puh-lease.
Hunter was Going to Flip on the Old Man
Joe Biden has hated Hunter Biden in a way that very few fathers have hated their own offpsring. “Big Guy” Joe tried to destroy Hunter in return for a few bucks. Hunter has been wrestling with cocaine addiction his entire life. His first official bust for coke possession occurred in 1988, when Hunter was just 18 years old. Considering he had a dad in the Senate, he likely skated a few times before the official bust. The Associated Press reports the 1988 bust, but don’t worry if you can’t find it yourself. You see, Joe intervened to get Hunter probation and then intervened again to get the arrest removed from the record. I am not sure he hadn’t done that other times before or after the 1988 bust.
In 2013, Hunter joined the U.S. Navy Reserve and his swearing in ceremony took place at the White House, since Joe was Vice President at the time. Hunter’s naval service lasted one day. That’s how long it took for a drug test to turn up positive and Hunter to be discharged in humiliation. Don’t remember that in the news cycle? Let’s just say Joe kept things as much under wraps as he could.
As if this weren’t enough, Hunter has also admitted to having a drinking problem.
Knowing that his son has had drug problems since his teenage years (if you get arrested for coke at age 18, you were probably into drugs in high school), Joe Biden dragged him in 2014 into the family business of influence peddling, money laundering, and corruption.
For those of us who have known people with addictions—what today is politely called “substance use disorder”—we know that these individuals can find it difficult to do even normal, easy things. Getting up five days a week and showing up to a job is burdensome, sometimes even impossibly so, for a person who is addicted. Managing family responsibilities, paying bills, and behaving oneself is all but impossible for a person as heavily into illicit drug use as Hunter. Normal pressures can cause an addict to crumble. Being in high-pressure situations can break them completely.
A person addicted to drugs can lose their shoes going on a walk. They’re just not equipped for everyday life. That’s why they need protection from high-pressure situations, whenever possible.
But not so with Hunter! Joe took his addicted son and put him in the most high-pressure situations imaginable. He sent him hither and yon to foreign lands where he was to broker influence-selling schemes to foreign oligarchs and sinister bad guys. He was also to set up networks within networks of shell companies to launder money. He was to negotiate with foreign powers and sometimes be in the middle of power plays between the U.S. government and foreign nations who were paying for Biden’s favor and likely top-secret documents. Meanwhile, Joe Biden made sure that buckets of money were entrusted to Hunter, who often lived for weeks at a time in foreign hotel suites, where he enjoyed the company of a multitude of hired escorts.
It is a miracle Hunter survived. With the temptations of cash, pretty girls, and the protection of foreign governments who helped ply Hunter with his favorite playthings, Hunter could very well have died in one of those far-away hotel suites. People have died of a lot less. Massive use of cocaine can bring on heart attacks and other life-ending cardiovascular problems. Mixing cocaine and alcohol creates the metabolite cocaethylene in the body, which acts like more cocaine, making it very easy to accidentally overdose. Besides that, Hunter was cavorting with a cast of villains, any of whom might have decided to harm him.
Hunter is not a stupid man. He earned a law degree and was able to run a complex money laundering operation, but he was demoted into the “bag-man” of the Biden crime family. He lamented in some of his emails on his notorious laptop from hell that his father, Joe Biden, made Hunter give him half of all he “earned” and pay the family bills. While Hunter made his own choices, I do not see Joe Biden winning any “father of the year” awards.
If Joe had loved Hunter, he would have never dragged him into a life of crime, nor would he have exposed him to making family deals knowing that the temptation of cash and foreign countries was going to worsen Hunter’s drug use. Joe could have intervened to get Hunter help. Joe should have sequestered Hunter from the crime he was perpetrating. But Joe didn’t do it.
Spare me that Joe loves his son. You couldn’t do anything worse to your most horrible enemy than Joe did to his son Hunter. Joe sold out the country for a few million bucks, and he offered up his son on the altar of his own greed.
Hunter knows what his father did to him. Joe considered Hunter expendable in Joe’s pursuit of cold cash. In the movie The Godfather, Vito Corleone had every hope of keeping his favorite son Michael out of the “family business.” Vito loved Michael and wanted to protect him. Joe had no such reservations. Joe was crueler than Vito Corleone.
This is not the story of how much Joe loves Hunter. It reminds me of the marriage of Bill and Hillary Clinton, who are only still married because it makes it illegal for them to testify against each other. Joe used Hunter when Hunter was too weak or too addicted to stand up for himself. As pressure mounted on Hunter and his sweetheart plea deal was rejected (by a left-leaning judge, too), I think Hunter was going to flip on the old man.
And why not? What had Joe ever done to protect him? Had Hunter decided to tell what he knows to the federal courts, Joe would be destroyed. So would the whole family, the entire family who never helped Hunter while he was drowning in cocaine in Ukraine.
I heard an unconfirmed story that Hunter told his family at Thanksgiving that he was going to write a tell-all book. I don’t know how things played out, but my theory is that Hunter was going to sell the saga of the Biden crime family to the feds in return for leniency.
It wasn’t a father’s love for his son that caused Joe to issue the pardon. It was a father’s love for money.
The Biden Boomerang
Everything Biden does turns out to be wrong, and I suspect we can add this unprecedented pardon to the pile of mistakes. I call them Biden Boomerangs, because they happen when Joe does something he thinks will help him but which backfires.
This pardon is so vast and sweeping that it is raising even Democrat eyebrows. It’s one thing to pardon your son over, say, one gun charge—but to say he can’t be charged with anything he did on a 11-year binge in Ukraine and Romania and China… Well, that’s a lot. As far as I understand as a non-lawyer, presidential pardons are irrevocable. Even the Supreme Court can’t overturn what Biden just did. Biden can’t take it back.
It has tarnished Biden’s already blackened legacy. Joe lied about it, for one thing, but what’s another lie in an administration defined by mendacity? It’s also unprecedented. And it’s the very first time a president ever pardoned his own child. Clinton pardoned his half-brother Roger Clinton, but it was for one drug charge only. Trump pardoned Ivanka’s father-in-law, Charles Kushner for tax evasion and witness tampering. But the Biden pardon stands alone. And Hunter’s pardon actually was intended not to protect Hunter, but to protect Joe.
A presidential pardon only applies to federal matters. Hunter Biden can still be charged with state and local crimes. But there is a weird nuance to this that looks a lot like a boomerang to me. Hunter’s pardon is about criminal convictions. He can still be called before Congress or a grand jury and asked about those crimes. He can’t go to jail for them, but he can be interviewed, deposed, and cross examined.
And here’s the sweet spot. Hunter cannot plead the 5th amendment. He can still claim he doesn’t remember this or that, but he cannot invoke his right not to incriminate himself because he’s pardoned. He can’t incriminate himself. So if Hunter were to be summoned before Congress, he would have to answer all of their questions about what the Bidens were doing in Ukraine.
He could refuse to answer a Congressional subpoena, but Steve Bannon just went to prison for four months over just that very thing. There is a real potential that Hunter cannot just jerk Congress around like he has in the past. This is a new Congress. So he may be compelled to testify and he has no 5th amendment privilege. And I am not sure there is a lot of desire in his heart to protect his old man.
Why Eleven Years?
The Hunter pardon actually pardons Joe. The timeline explains the 11-year window. The pardon starts in January 2014. Hunter got an $80,000 a month no-show job at Burisma in April 2014. Technically, being overpaid is not a crime. But Hunter was doing more than just being overpaid.
This also pardons Saint Obama. Hunter Biden has as much to reveal about Barack Obama as his own father. Barack Obama knew what was going on with Joe Biden. He knew about Burisma, knew the influence peddling. Joe Biden sat in the Senate for decades and everyone knew that he was corrupt; Obama knew he was corrupt.
(You may wonder why Obama named a corrupt old racist like Joe Biden as Vice President—that’s a story for another day. Let’s just say it was a quid-pro-quo deal. Way back in 2008 when Obama was running for President he got a major big favor from Beau Biden…)
Obama knew what was going on and I suspect the tentacles of Joe Biden’s corruption and—dare I say—treasonous activities reached back into the Obama administration. So a long-term pardon was needed to preserve the legacy of the increasingly bankrupt Obama legacy.
Will Joe Biden pardon everyone? What Hunter knows and could reveal might very well implicate Joe and Jill Biden (excuse me, Her Excellency Dr. Biden), Valerie, Frank, and Jim Biden, Ashley Biden, and a few of the extended Biden crime family. (Hint: Hunter’s cousin Caroline Biden may be of interest.) Then there are the Obamas. And on and on it goes.
I don’t know if Biden can pardon the whole swamp. But Joe Biden is not particularly worried about those guys; he’s like got a vendetta against Obama anyway. Joe just wants to make sure he’s safe.
Hunter may very well decide to tell all. They used and abused him, and you know what they say about payback.
Democrats Look Like Crooks
Well, it’s hard not to look like a crook when you are a crook. The pardon not only seems self-serving and bizarre, it makes Joe Biden into a liar. And it opens the door wide for Donald Trump to issue broad pardons.
What looks bad about this is that most pardons are for people who are not in criminal partnership with the President.
In other words, Biden is pardoning Hunter to protect himself, his family, and maybe even Obama. That was never the intention of presidential pardons.
A guy named Prof Aziz Z. Huq at the University of Chicago Law School has stated this “really does strike at the rule of law.” Bear in mind, the University of Chicago is a hotbed of progressive and Democrat activism. But even they are creeped out.
It also must be noted that Hunter Biden was facing up to 40 years in prison. That’s a big ask to get all of those charges dropped. And the fact that Biden gave Hunter an 11-year pardon for unspecified crimes tells me he knows that his son has been committing crimes for 11 years.
The few lame defenders of Biden’s pardon claim that it’s Trump fault because he has made it clear he intends to “drain the swamp” and he has nominated Kash Patel to head the FBI. They feared that Trump would pursue Hunter Biden, when in actuality, Hunter pleaded guilty to both gun and tax evasion charges. Hunter accepted responsibility for those crimes, so naturally, Trump is somehow to blame.
This get-out-of-jail-free card is an abuse of the pardon privilege, because it is not specific. Pardons were meant to be specific to actual crimes, not just broad periods of time when a person is allowed to be above the law. Legal experts call this the “specificity requirement” and I guarantee that right now there are rooms of lawyers sitting at conference tables wondering whether this pardon can be invalidated. It can’t be taken back, but a non-specific pardon may not be a pardon at all.
The Biden Legacy
The blanket pardon of Hunter is pretty much Joe Biden giving a big fat middle finger to America. Joe can do whatever he wants and no one can stop him.
Yeah, and Trump is the existential threat to democracy.
But Joe Biden did do one more positive thing. He proved Trump was right when he said there was a two-tiered system of justice in America.
As the Left showed us, the blanket does not apply to State or International crimes against humanity. So 2014, when Hunter and Joe violated international law, as did FauXi, funding gain of function Covid research at US Pharma bioweapons labs in Ukraine, the blanket does not put out that Lithium fire.
Ditto Pelosi, Schiff and Cheney crimes against individual state citizen’s rights with street theater faux impeachments and kangaroo court J6 weaponized DoJ against citizens in states opposed to the Biden regime. So Ken Paxton and State’s Atty’s in Florida etc. can charge them all for assaulting falsely citizens in their respective states.
Meanwhile, Pray or 🐝 prey, 🙏🙏🙏.
