Open Borders (thanks, Kamala!) and the Government Shut Down

Elon Musk went on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and exposed something that bears deeper thought. It connects why the Democrats pivoted rapidly from a firm closed border policy (remember when Barack Obama was called the “deporter in chief”?) to open borders—and why they’re playing chicken with the government shutdown right now.

It all relates. It’s all part of the same slimy plot to destroy democracy. That’s why Democrats are always yelling about democracy—they’re projecting.

Open Borders

Immigration has always been an important American value, but up until Biden disgraced the country by entering the White House, we liked our immigrants to be legal. That means we wanted people to become American citizens, but we wanted to know their names, fingerprints, and photographs; we wanted to vet them to be sure they had no nefarious criminal or terrorist ties. We also wanted them to settle in and assimilate.

Then Biden came into office and we threw the borders wide open. No ports of entry. No vetting. We didn’t even get fingerprints of suspicious characters (like the 30-year-old man entering the country with six nine-year-olds, all of whom he claims are his daughter). It was a free-for-all. Cartel-adjacent human traffickers sold would-be immigrants the bill of goods that they could enter America without penalty and simply take up residence. (The cost for getting you there was about $10,000 per person, of course. The routes in and out of the country and most of the zone around the border was controlled by cartels.)

And it’s why Biden named Kamala the border czar, knowing she’d do nothing. The Biden administration was almost defying the public by naming a problem and then sending Kalamity Harris in to laugh at it.

This has always raised a question for me. If we want an influx of immigrants, why don’t we just change immigration laws and regulations, open up more ports of entry, hire some more officials, and let people in legally?

Why were the Democrats hell-bent on doing all of this illegally? It was perplexing.

Sanctuary Cities

Nobody knows how many sanctuary cities there are in the United States, because sometimes whole states have declared themselves “sanctuary jurisdictions.” Some estimates put it at over 1,000.

Sanctuary jurisdictions or sanctuary cities are even more perplexing. These are places where there are legal “fences” built, so that federal immigration law cannot be enforced. It’s like these areas simply said, “Yeah, it’s a federal law, but we are not going to allow that federal law to be enforced.”

If you can exempt yourself from federal law, why do we have federal law? Can we have bank robbery sanctuary cities? Can a state become a rape sanctuary city? I might be more on board with this if we set up Sanctuary Tax-Free Cities where no federal income tax laws applied. The whole concept of sanctuaries seems anathema to our republic.

One thing you’ll notice about sanctuary jurisdictions is that they are mostly in the true-Blue states and cities. All of California is a sanctuary; same with Washington and Oregon. Go to the other coast and you’ll see clusters of sanctuaries around blue havens like New York City, Washington, D.C., and Boston.

Know where you won’t find a sanctuary enclave? Montana. Oklahoma. Alabama. North Dakota. Red states don’t do the sanctuary stuff.

This doesn’t make sense. Illegals are flooding into the country and certain parts of the country are being built up like lighthouses, beaconing the illegals to move there. Come to California, you illegal immigrant, where you can be safe! Move to Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Illegal, we won’t arrest you!

It’s almost as if a mad rush of immigrants is pouring into the country and certain outposts are rolling out the welcome mat. Why would certain cities and states be dumping billions annually into luring illegals to take up residence in the city? It’s not because they bring technical savvy or special expertise. Many of them do not work legally (paid under the table generally means you don’t pay taxes) or don’t work at all. Why is there such a billion-dollar rush to attract them?

What’s going on?

Bennies for Nothing and Your Checks for Free

These sanctuaries are also boasting of all sorts of freebies for the new invaders (and, yes, a person who enters your country illegally is an invader). An illegal immigrant can settle in California and get welfare, food stamps, and free healthcare. We don’t even have the numbers for this sort of thing because a lot of this is a legal gray zone. Technically, illegal aliens are not allowed to get these benefits but, in reality, many do. It’s like saying embezzlement is illegal. Sure it is, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

So these lighthouse sanctuaries—beacons in a vast country, promising no arrests, no punitive actions—are also offering these illegal aliens a variety of benefits. The beauty of this plan is that many of these benefits are funded by taxpayers at the federal level, so you and I are paying taxes to give the stinking Blue states money to incentivize illegals to come to their sanctuary cities and states.

No state or city can really afford this—at least not for long and not on this mass scale—but being able to dip into federal funds helps. Without these incentives (sanctuary cities and free healthcare and other benefits), immigrants would likely distribute themselves more randomly over the country. People seeking to start a new life in America might opt to go where some other family members live, perhaps Florida or Ohio. Or they might be motivated to move to a state with a low cost of living and affordable housing, like Arkansas or Oklahoma. Perhaps these immigrants would want to start a business—those who were fishermen in their home country might move to Louisiana, farmers might go to Iowa, ranchers might move to Texas. And perhaps some immigrants might simply move where the weather suited them or the landscape (beach, mountains, desert, metropolis) appealed to them.

But they’re being attracted to move and stay in certain very specific places. It reminds me of using a magnet to move the metal shavings in that old 1950s kids’ toy (now super-vintage) called Wooly Willy. They’re being pulled by the lure of lawlessness and freebies to migrate to some very deep Blue parts of the country.

The Long Game

This is the Democrat long game, and it’s what Elon Musk exposed on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast the other day. Here’s the plan in a very simplistic form:

• The House of Representatives has 435 seats and that’s it. It’s a finite number. Every state gets at least one representative. The rest of the representatives are “apportioned” or divvied up based on the population

• This means the more people who live in your state, the more people you can send to the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

• At the current population level, each representative represents roughly 747,000 people. This number shifts as population increases, but it gives you a rough idea of how many people it takes to add a Representative

• Let me repeat: the more people you have in your state, the more representatives you get

• And these shifts are double whammies—if population increases a whole lot in one state, they get more representatives but since the number of representatives is fixed at 435, it means other states lose representatives

• The population count is figured by the U.S. Census, which takes place every 10 years. Next one is 2030 unless we get an emergency census

• Here is the trick: the Census does not count U.S. citizens. It does not count voters. It counts people. That means the Census counts illegal aliens

• If a Blue state can lure a million illegal aliens into its borders by 2030, it will get an additional seat in the House of Representatives and likely some other not-so-Blue state will lose a seat

• The Congress.gov website says that we had 16M illegal aliens under Biden. Actually, we don’t know the number since nobody counts the “got-aways.” It’s like asking how many people were looting the Apple Store in Minneapolis during the George Floyd riots. Nobody was counting. Some say the numbers is closer to 25M

• If you use the 747,000 people per seat in the house of representatives, 25M new citizens could be 33 new seats in the House. That’s a lot and it could set up an impenetrable majority

• If these new Representatives all go to Blue states, we become a one-party country

Shutdown Showdown

Part of this nefarious Democrat plot is based on the idea that illegals get free healthcare.

American healthcare—despite its many flaws—is world class. People fly in to America all of the time from all over the world to get medical treatment here. In 2019 when Mick Jagger needed a heart valve, this very wealthy British citizen had the procedure done in New York City. Not in London. We have some of the best and most accessible healthcare on earth.

For an illegal who may have had a hand-to-mouth existence in his or her native country, free healthcare with access to American services is like a pot of gold. And let me tell you a secret. Some of the illegals who are entering this country have chronic or severe health problems—such as needing dialysis or requiring high-dollar medications. Some need treatment they can’t get in their home country. It’s one of the reasons some people leave their home country to come here.

The sanctuaries found they could offer illegals free healthcare by signing them up for the poorly named Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. The ACA is a very high-dollar way to get mediocre healthcare—Obama set it up by putting insurance companies in charge of healthcare. This is like letting the fox guard the hen house. Premiums for ACA coverage are high (particularly in light of what you get) and going to get much higher as soon as the COVID-era subsidies expire.

Guess what? They’ve expired!

Most Obamacare premiums are set to go up and by that I mean double or triple. So the lousy healthy insurance you got for $800 a month could cost you around $2,000 a month.

Remember, illegals often do not pay for their healthcare, so that bill is sent directly to the states. That free healthcare bait that sanctuary cities were using to trick illegal aliens into migrating to specific blue zones in the country is now unaffordable for the blue states… Unless…

Unless the Blue states can get the federal government to subsidize healthcare for a bit longer. And that’s what’s the holdup on the budget.

The government right now is shut down because Democrats are demanding $1.5T (that’s trillion) which is mostly going to go to help pay for “free” healthcare for illegals. Of course, some might also go to help subsidize healthcare for paying customers, but I wouldn’t count on it.

The impasse right now is an important battle for Democrats and their battle for demographic control of Congress. It’s why they’re willing to die on this hill. It’s also why Chuck Schumer looks like death warmed over. It’s why Nancy Pelosi has decided to retire. It’s why lefties are all writing books trying to distance themselves from the party (Karine Jean-Pierre and Jake Tapper come to mind). The Democrats are now stuck—they need that $1.5T to keep their demographic scam going and they’re not going to get it.

And it’s why their messaging is so bizarre—the Democrats don’t dare say what they’re up to, so they try to make you think that Trump shut down the government or that Republicans could open the government. They used to be better liars.

If they can keep plying illegals with freebies, the illegals will linger around in Blue states till 2030 to be counted for the census.

And in the event that illegals vote (and technically, illegals cannot vote just like technically they are not eligible for Social Security), these illegals-turned-Obamacare-recipients are very likely to vote and keep voting Democrat.

So the Democrats won’t budge on the budget because the Trump administration has not just cut USAID and slush funds that pump your tax dollars into bogus nonprofit organizations that provide aid and comfort to the invaders. The Trump administration is also not extending the COVID-era subsidies to Obamacare, so prices won’t stay artificially low much longer.

Pretty soon the illegal aliens the Blue sanctuaries welcomed with open arms are going to become burdensome. The Blue sanctuaries are hoping that the rest of the nation will help bear that burden.

This could be a disaster for the demographic plan of the Democrats. It might encourage illegals to migrate to greener pastures in redder states (why pay high-dollar rents in California and get no free healthcare if you can get no free healthcare and lower rents in Texas?)

It’s also why there is such outrage and furor over ICE raids. Democrats are trying to beat up ICE agents, which is almost comical since most of the pugilistic Democrats are morbidly obese women. Democrats—who can’t meme—are setting up apps to track ICE agents. Imagine what would happen if Democrats used these powers for good instead of cheating?

If illegals are not safe in sanctuary jurisdictions, they might move. That would be a catastrophe for the Democrats. Let’s face it, Oakland, California, is not much better than Tijuana—why stay there if you can live better and cheaper in Georgia? Why go on the dole in California when you can open your own restaurant and make bank in North Carolina?

It’s all tied together:

• The government shutdown (Democrats demand money to keep bribing the illegals to stay in their collapsing Blue cities)

• The open border (Democrats need tens of millions of noses to count for the 2030 census)

• The ICE rage (Democrats want illegals to feel safe in Blue zones)

Elon Explains It All To Us

Elon exposed this and it makes perfect sense. And as Elon pointed out to Joe Rogan, rather blandly I thought, it is a plan that could work. It’s not even far fetched. So what are we doing about it?

• We’ve all but the closed the border

• The numbers are not clear or fact-checkable, but many illegals are being deported or self-deporting right now. I see some numbers setting this figure at 1.6M people to date but no one knows the exact figure

• The Trump administration is going to ramp up deportation—as the old Texas saying goes, “Can’t run, can’t hide, can’t make it stop”

• The Republicans are holding the line on throwing $1.5T at Democrats to subsidize Obamacare

• If you divide $1.5T (the Democrat ask in the government shutdown) by the 165.8M people in the United States who pay taxes, it comes to $9,000 per tax filing. That’s right, if you pay taxes and we give in to the Democrats, cough up another $9,000 a year to hand to Blue states

What is it that Democrats Want?

Sigmund Freud, at the end of his weird but storied career, once lamented, “What is it that women want?” I’ve asked the same thing about Democrats.

What is it that Democrats want?

They aren’t doing this massive power grab for nothing—but it’s not to benefit the nation or its citizens. They aren’t pulling this stunt to make this a stronger, safer nation for you and your family. No! They have no plans or interest in making America more prosperous or to build better schools, to offer good jobs, to make our cities safer, or to make people healthier and happier.

They want power.

They don’t even have a clear goal, they just want to be the one wearing the crown and holding the keys to the treasury. It’s like Kim Jong-Un in North Korea. He loves power, but he only uses it to make himself rich. If these Democrats ever get more power, they will not use it wisely.

We can take that to the bank.
