Did you catch this little glimpse into Biblical truth that was evident at the March 4, 2025 address by Donald Trump to both houses of Congress? The principle—sometimes called karma by the nonbelievers—is that one reaps what one sows. If you scatter seeds of division, mendacity, cruelty, and hatred, one day that’s what you get back. It doesn’t always happen quickly—seeds sometimes take a while to become plants. But it happens.
This is not a rundown of the address by Trump, which will come later and likely in snippets. Let’s just say it was one of the greatest speeches Trump ever gave (albeit a long one at nearly 2 hours). Besides, lots of podcasters and pundits are already digging into that.
What I saw what a Trump that gave a great speech without faltering. He never lost his cool, despite the high-school-esque antics of the Democrats. He made good points. He had heart-warming special appearances by a little boy who was battling brain cancer, Laken Riley’s mother, and the family of Corey Compatore, the fire fighter in Butler, Pennsylvania, who died in the assassination attempt on Trump. He died using his body to shield his wife and daughters. He listed achievements and goals.
But look at the man. He looks like he has hardly aged at all since he took office back in 2016—almost a decade ago. In fact, in some ways, this is the best Trump. He’s strong, forceful, but confident enough to be measured and disciplined. He has a lot of energy. He looks young for his age.
The last time there was such a memorable address to Congress was on September 15, 2021 when Nancy Pelosi, then Speaker of the House, tore up his speech on camera. Notice that weasel Mike Pence looking away with a happy grin. (Was he in on it?) Anyway, what we have here is a crime scene photo. The Speaker of the House is tasked with receiving the State of the Union speech as a manuscript directly from the hands of the President. It is not given to her; she does not own it. Her job is ceremonial. She is to make sure that the original copy of this document is handed off to the National Archives. Nancy Pelosi didn’t own that manuscript; we did. The people owned it and she willfully and wantonly destroyed it. That’s actually a federal crime.
Back in 2021, Nancy Pelosi was considered one of the House of Representatives’ most legendary speakers. She unified her party (mainly by bullying them), she made a mountain of money on shameless insider trading, and she always seemed fit and forceful, even though she’s older than Trump (she’s older than Biden, actually). She was trim, always nicely dressed, and clip-clopped around the halls of Congress on stilettos high enough to be stilts.
Fast forward to yesterday. It’s 2025 and Nancy Pelosi no longer wields the gavel. She had to sit in the cheap seats. She recently broke her hip on some unnecessary overseas junket. Word is now that she has to use a walker to get around although the press is very accommodating and doesn’t put Pelosi on camera if she’s using the walker. Once she got settled in her seat, she had a cane.
Look at her. If you compare Pelosi 2021 to Pelosi 2025 she looks decades older. Her face betrays misery and maybe worse. She spent most of the speech playing with her dentures. She didn’t clap for the little boy who survived brain cancer. She didn’t clap to recognize Laken Riley’s mom. She just rolled her tongue around in her mouth and looked grim.
Honestly, she looked like she was some old lady on a day excursion from the nursing home. She was not engaged at all. She was in her own little world.
A few years ago, Nancy was strutting her stuff and showing off to the American people that, indeed, some people are above the law. Now she looks like an old lady plotting some kind of heinous crime she will never be able to carry out.
This is reaping what you sow. You sow hatred, division, and lies, and one day you wind up like Pelosi.
By the way, the prognosis for geriatric women with a hip fracture is not good. It’s a very serious injury and only about 50% of them survive five years after the fracture. I’m not wishing any harm to Nancy Pelosi but I think she needs to realize that life on this planet eventually ends. She’s closer than most of us to what the Jessica Tandy character in Fried Green Tomatoes called “the jumping-off place.”
Nancy has a lot of sins on her dance card—she’s promoted abortion, staged an insurrection to frame an innocent man, lied, and cheated. I know she lies because she once on camera talked about the “wrap-up smear” and how she giddily used it a lot. (First, you call a friendly reporter and leak an “alleged story” like so-and-so beats his wife. Then after the story is published, you go on camera and state as a fact, “hey, so-and-so beats his wife.” When you’re fact-checked you just smile and throw up your hands and say, “But it was in the news!”) Nancy is so dishonest she no longer knows the boundaries between right and wrong, good and evil, sin and righteousness.
If you are the sort who prays, we should pray that Nancy Pelosi repents of her sin and comes to saving faith. Otherwise, she’s doomed. If she hates Trump, wait till she finds out what hell is like.
